I have had my Seagate 250 for about 6 months and have not had any problems. (knock on wood) I keep it in an enclosure (USB 2.0) so I can't attest to the speed of the drive. I use it for backing up photos, music, movies and I have about 100gb left. The HD itself is very quiet. I read alot of reviews before picking this drive. I have had Maxtors, Western Digitals and Seagates.. out of the three I have only had major issues with Maxtors. of course I do not keep my External Drives on overnight or for long periods of time. I also keep my drives in pretty cool locations. cheers.
