I've owned five Logitech headsets in the past. I'm on my fourth Precision headset I've owned over the past few years. The other one was the Logitech Premium. When they work, they actually work very well. The audio is clear coming in and out and it's a fairly comfortable design on this one. But, I have NEVER had one last more than 5 months. Like I said, I've owned 4 of them in the past, and each and every single time they'd broken due to being short circuited. I use them a lot, 1-8 hours a day for gaming. So, it's obvious that the design is not meant to endure heavy use. That little audio adjuster thing, it's poorly designed. Usually, what happens is this, in this order (3/4 times with the Precision and same with the other one I owned), you'll lose sound in either the right or left side of your ear. Then, shortly after, you'll lose use of the mic.I take pretty good care of mine, the 4th one I bought broke because I accidentally stepped on the WIRE. Apparently the wire can't take a 180 lb boy stepping on it? I barely yanked it and it broke, I'm talking the yank on it couldn't of been more than enough pressure to unscrew a loosely connected lid off a Gatorade bottle. This is a very unreliable headset and I would advise you don't buy it. Any other report that tells you it's reliable is wrong. They either don't use it enough, or haven't had it long enough. I usually take good care of my computer stuff, and I took fairly good care of this, I mean a snag is bound to happen eventually - it's inevitable. So, now the mic is broken on the one I most recently got. I told myself when I was at Best Buy - don't buy a Logitech, you've owned four up until this point, do you really want to get a fifth Logitech made mic? Of course it wasn't my first choice, but my second choice was 130$ and I didn't want to spend that on a mic. Best Buy for some reason has a bad selection on mics in my area.
I've spoken to several people who own the same set of headsets, they have all experiencedthe same problem. I even checked a few forums, they all say it's common for them to just go out without any abuse to them. Go do the research yourself. It's the most unreliable POS headsetand I hope Logitech goes out of business for creating this. I'm truly disgusted by this and feel like taking suit against them. And in no way am I exaggerating the downsides of this mic. It works well, but like everything else, eventually will break - in this case, it's extremely rare it be fully in tact after anything more than five months even if you never drop it once. It's faulty in design, don't buy it - you will be disappointed after you're satisfied. Hope you find this useful, I'm just giving you an honest evaluation in past experience mixed with my strongly biased opinion. It is opinion that I trash talk it and you will be disappointed, it is however fact that it will not last long. You don't buy four of the same headsets and have not one of them last more than five months. You just don't.
