I guess third time's a charm.I've been through the Trendnet KVM TK-209 and the Belkin USB Flip, both products failed to work. This one doesn't.I use a notebook(Linux) and a desktop(Win2k) with this switch. The housing is aluminum and comes with a weighted mounting plate that attaches to the bottom of the switch. An external power cord is supplied; though the manufacter states that it's not necessary after initial install, but can help with stability or connection loss prevention.I prefer the unit to use its own power source. The hot keys work as well as the push button switch on the unit. The unit is fairly small and should not get in the way if you plan on setting it on your desk.I keep mine mounted vertically behind the desk with velcro. The unit also has an extra usb port to share a printer, scanner, hard drive, etc. between two computers.Like they say, "You get what you pay for"; and I would recommend spending a few extra dollars for this switch, which is actually reasonably priced.Click Here to see more reviews about: 2-port USB and PS/2 KVM switch
